What Did the Saints Really Look Like?

... we don't know exactly what our ancient saints looked like. But there are saints who have lived since the camera was invented! Holy persons on fire with the love of God come from all parts of the world, from all races. They were not limited by age or class. Some died in the glory of martyrdom; some bravely faced the martyrdom of the daily grind. Some of them were blessed with happy physical attributes; some were not...

Below are some of the modern servants of God who one day may be acclaimed as canonized saints of the Catholic church.* These were not perfect people. Like us, they struggled with all the trials of modern life. Someone once defined a saint as "only a sinner who keeps on trying." The example of their heroic attempts to follow God's Will in their lives are wonderful models for our own lives.

NOSSO SENHOR JESUS CRISTO, REI DO UNIVERSO

If We ordain that the whole Catholic world shall revere Christ as King, We shall minister to the need of the present day, and at the same time provide an excellent remedy for the plague which now infects society. We refer to the plague of anti-clericalism, its errors and impious activities.

This evil spirit... has long lurked beneath the surface. The empire of Christ over all nations was rejected. The right which the Church has from Christ himself, to teach mankind, to make laws, to govern peoples in all that pertains to their eternal salvation, that right was denied. Then gradually the religion of Christ came to be likened to false religions and to be placed ignominiously on the same level with them... Some men went even further, and wished to set up in the place of God's religion a natural religion consisting in some instinctive affection of the heart.

There were even some nations who thought they could dispense with God, and that their religion should consist in impiety and the neglect of God. The rebellion of individuals and states against the authority of Christ has produced deplorable consequences. ...we lament them today: the seeds of discord sown far and wide; those bitter enmities and rivalries between nations, which still hinder so much the cause of peace; that insatiable greed which is so often hidden under a pretense of public spirit and patriotism, and gives rise to so many private quarrels; a blind and immoderate selfishness, making men seek nothing but their own comfort and advantage, and measure everything by these; no peace in the home, because men have forgotten or neglect their duty; the unity and stability of the family undermined; society in a word, shaken to its foundations and on the way to ruin.

“Mentir em prol da verdade”

"The World Health Organization (WHO), UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) have reported consistently over the years that something on the order of 500,000 to 600,000 women die the world over from complications of pregnancy...

The problem with the number is that is cannot be substantiated, this according to the former head of the UN statistics office, Dr. Joseph Chamie.

"The Economist (20 octubre 2007) resume un estudio de la consultoría McKinsey sobre las claves del éxito de los países que obtienen mejores resultados en el informe PISA... (Programme for International Student Assessment), que la OCDE elabora cada tres años a partir de exámenes realizados a alumnos de 15 años de numerosos países (más de 60, en la última edición) ...

Sin embargo, las claves del éxito (o del fracaso) no se descubren a primera vista. El dinero no es decisivo... el número de alumnos por profesor [no es decisivo] ... horas de clase [no es decisivo].

A 'história' ao serviço da revolução

Se, mentindo, você apressa o advento do socialismo, está ajudando a revelar a verdade. Se, ao contrário, você se apega à realidade dos fatos para argumentar contra o socialismo, está atrapalhando a revelação e servindo portanto ao reino da mentira."

Racismo

"O racismo é, por inteiro, uma criação da modernidade, das luzes, da mentalidade científica, ateística e revolucionária...

... você não encontrará nos dogmas da Igreja, nas sentenças dos Papas ou nas decisões conciliares uma só frase que sugira... a superioridade dos brancos sobre os negros. Em compensação, encontrará muitas nas obras dos enciclopedistas, de Kant, de Voltaire, de Karl Marx e de Charles Darwin... Se Voltaire enriqueceu no comércio de escravos e Kant assegurou que “os negros da África, por natureza, não têm sentimentos acima da frivolidade”, Marx e Darwin... fazem daquela pretensa superioridade branca um argumento ostensivo em favor do extermínio das “raças inferiores”, que o primeiro considerava necessário ao progresso histórico e o segundo um pressuposto básico da evolução humana...

... A rigor, a declaração de James Watson contra os programas sociais, ante a qual os paladinos da boa imagem da ciência tanto se fingem de escandalizados, não passa de uma versão atenuada do seguinte parágrafo de Charles Darwin:

“Entre os selvagens, os fracos de corpo e mente são logo eliminados. Nós, civilizados, fazemos o possível para evitar essa eliminação; construímos asilos para os imbecis, os aleijados, os doentes; instituímos leis para proteger os pobres... Isso é altamente prejudicial à raça humana.”
